Advanced Life Support (ALS) Level 3 (VTQ)
Advanced Life Support (ALS) is our highest level of life support and CPR.
The ALS course is mapped against the requirements laid down by the UK Resuscitation Council guidelines and we have included many extra subjects to offer a comprehensive advanced life support course. We will also cover how to effectively follow the ABCDE approach in an emergency situation.
We do not currently offer this as a blended or classroom course but it usually can be used as prior knowledge to cut down classroom time with other organisations. This ALS course is also ideal for refreshing skills at any time.

Who Would Benefit from Our Advanced Life Support Course?
The ERC state that the ALS course is targeted at:
- Doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals who are expected to provide ALS in a hospital or out of a hospital
- Doctors, nurses and paramedics working in emergency areas of the hospital or Emergency Medical Systems
- Those who attend cardiac arrests on a regular basis or maybe expected to lead a cardiac arrest team
- Individuals who are regular members of resuscitation teams or regularly working in the EMS, and senior paramedics and specialist hospital technicians

Learning Outcomes
The ALS course teaches the knowledge and skills required to:
- Recognise and treat the deteriorating patient using a structured ABCDE approach
- Deliver standardised CPR in adults
- Manage a cardiac arrest by working with a multidisciplinary team in an emergency situation
- Utilise non-technical skills to facilitate strong team leadership and effective team membership.
Basic Airway Management
In our Basic Airway Management course, students will delve into the fundamental principles and techniques crucial for ensuring optimal respiratory function and airway maintenance.
The course begins with an exploration of the mechanics of respiration, providing a solid foundation for understanding normal and abnormal breathing patterns. Students will then learn essential skills for managing the airway, including the use of OP (oropharyngeal) and NP (nasopharyngeal) airways to overcome obstructions.
Additionally, the course covers advanced techniques such as the insertion and management of I-gel airways, offering a comprehensive approach to airway management.
